The ACCU market softened in October, with Generic ACCUs falling from $38.25 to a low of $37.75 before recovering late in the month to close at $38.10.
Reported trading volume totalled 1.61 million units, down 36% month-on-month and 54% compared with October last year.
Discussion around the Safeguard Mechanism Review continued, including whether restrictions on ACCU use could encourage greater onsite abatement and how quickly baselines should decline after 2030.
Premium methodology activity remained subdued, while no Safeguard Mechanism credit unit (SMC) trades were reported during October.
ACCU issuance remained elevated, with 3.15 million units issued in September and Q3 issuance reaching 8.2 million units.
