Highlights for August 2026

• The ACCU market continued to firm through August, with healthy trading volumes and prices remaining above the $38 level reached in July.
• Spot ACCUs traded up to $39.50 before closing the month at $38.95.
• Combined ACCU and SMC traded volume totalled 2.7 million units, below July’s 3.6 million units but still the second-highest monthly volume recorded year to date.
• Policy remained in focus, following the release of the Safeguard Mechanism review consultation paper, which includes options relating to ACCU-use limits, discounting and vintaging post-2030.
• Approximately 1.93 million ACCUs were issued across 90 projects in July, led by Landfill Gas and Human-Induced Regeneration, while project registrations remained active but below last year’s rate.
